- A poorly mixed clay, usually brown and cream coloured clays mixed together, with large rounded lumps of unmixed clay. Wheel-thrown with a thick black or purplish glaze, sometimes over a red slip.
- Form
- straight-sided, or conical bowls with thick, elaborate rims. Sometimes with horizontal lug handles.

- late 18th c onwards.
